The Sales Pitch - Part III

Okay, we've decided what we want to sell. The next thing we have to do is think of a company name. We want something that is catchy and also convey to the public exactly what it is we are selling. Well, we're selling advertising, right? And we've decided that we want to sell every type of advertising available on the Internet so that people who subscribe to our service will know that they are getting the best possible representation and exposure for their product or service. What name will convey that to somebody?

Well, there is no right or wrong answer here. I'm sure there will be many who will come up with quite a few company names, and all of them may be very good indeed. So while I'm not suggesting that the name I have come up with is the best one, or even a good one, for the purposes of this example, we'll assume that it will be a good one as people will identify with it. The name I have chosen for my company is AllAdSolutions. I did an Internet search and son of a gun, there are no companies out there with that name. Hey, this may not be a bad idea for a new venture.

Okay, so we have our company name. The next thing we need is a slogan to go with that name. While the slogan isn't going to be the whole sales pitch, it will be how we conclude our ads, whether they be email, message board posts or what have you. The slogan I have chosen is "Advertising Solutions for All People" or A.S.A.P. We may even modify our tag line to read "ASAP - Advertising Solutions for All People". This conveys two things. First it conveys that our company will provide you with an advertising solution regardless of who you are. It will also convey that this will happen as soon as possible. In other words, you'll get immediate results.

Okay, so we have our company name and our company slogan or tag line to our ads. The next thing we have to do is actually come up with our sales pitch. In order to do this we have to go over all the things that we want to convey to people in our ad. To do this, we're going to need to make a checklist to make sure that we don't miss anything.

That checklist may look like the following, though this is by no means a complete list.

1. The company name.
2. The company goal.
3. Why we're better than everyone else.
4. The service we provide.
5. The cost of our service.
6. Ways to contact us with questions.

I'm sure there are other things you can think of. But for the purpose of this exercise, we'll keep it short.

The only thing left to do is actually write our sales pitch. We'll be doing that in the last part of our series on the Sales Pitch.

Sincerely,
