The Sales Pitch - Part II

In this second installment of The Sales Pitch, we're going to create a fictional brand of a real product type. We're then going to create an ad campaign for it.

The product we're going to create is something that is sold a lot on the Internet, so you're going to have a lot of competition. This is going to force you to use some very creative advertising in order to make it stand apart from the rest.

The product we're going to sell is advertising.

That's right. Advertising. Let's face it. With all the people looking to make money online, the one thing that all of them need in order to get their product or service in front of the buying community is advertising. Without it, we'd all be digging ditches for a living.

Okay, so how do we start?

Well, the first thing we need to do is a little research to see what the forms of advertising online are. In order to do this we have to go find them. Don't worry, I'm not going to make you do that. For the purpose of this article, let's just say we did and came up with the following list of things.

1. Traffic Exchanges.
2. FFA Posting.
3. Classified Ads Posting.
4. Safelist Advertising.
5. Pay Per Click Advertising.
6. Ezine Advertising.
7. Lead Generation Companies.

And there's a lot more but you get the idea.

Okay, so what do we want to concentrate on as far as our new product or service? How do we want to be different?

Well, there are companies out there that do multiples of these methods. But you're probably not going to find one that does them all.

So why not us?

That's right. Make your service handle every type of advertising possible on the Internet. Make sure that each section features all the bells and whistles that each one would have if you did them individually and then package it into one mega site.

Not a bad idea. Your one stop solution to your advertising needs.

Okay, now we're getting ahead of ourselves. That's what comes next. The pitch. How do we present this idea to people after we have it designed? What slogans do we use? We need a name for our company. We need a design. We need a theme to fit all of this together. Just like McDonalds has its theme for all the food they sell, like McNuggets and McBurgers, etc.

We'll actually start our whole campaign in the next edition.

Sincerely,

Lance Drossman
