A lot of people think, if you put it on the page, they will click. Unfortunately, this isn't the case. You have to first of all understand why somebody would click on one of your Adsense ads. To do that, you have to understand the ads themselves.
For starters, if you've created your page correctly, with the proper content and keywords, the Adsense ads that are going to appear on your page will coincide with the actual content of the page and with the type of visitors that your page will attract.
For example. If you have a web page with articles on wedding plans, if you've set up your page and keywords correctly, the people who will find your page will be those who are interested in planning for their wedding. At the same time, the Adsense ads that will appear on your page will be ads also aimed at people who are looking for plan for a wedding.
So, why would they click on these ads?
This is where a little bit of human psychology comes into play. A person going to you page, say to find wedding tips, is looking for advice on planning their wedding. Now, if your page has some really good content, they may get all they need from the content itself and may not need anything else to help them plan for their wedding. This isn't to say that you should make a page with poor content but what you should do is have one section of Adsense ads appear BEFORE the visitor actually gets to the content of your page. Best way to do this is to place one block of Adsense ads at the top of the page. If the visitor sees something in those ads that attracts their attention, they may never even get to your content and just click on the ads. That's okay, as that is ultimately what you want them to do.
But what if they skip the top ads and go right down to the content? No problem. If after reading the content they don't exactly find what they're looking for, or maybe feel they need additional information, this is where you want to hit them with another block of Adsense ads. This block you will place at the bottom of the page. This way they've read the content and they're ready to make their next step in the search process. With Adsense ads right there for them to click on, they may very well click on one of those ads.
Finally, since you're allowed three blocks of Adsense ads on each page, you might want to place a block of ads in the middle of your article. Just make sure the ads blend in with the article itself. This gives them a good chance of getting clicked on.
By following these tips for placement, you have a good chance of getting quite a few clicks out of your Adsense campaign.
